Make Your Own Jeep Seatbelt Sleeve

Look – A DIY Seatbelt Sleeve for your Jeep Grand Wagoneers!

Are you tired of having to hunt for your seatbelt every time you get into your Jeep?

Now you don’t have to. You can make your own seatbelt sleeve that will help keep the seatbelt accessible.

Here’s how I did it:

First, you need to order Kydex on eBay or Amazon. I purchased mine from Amazon (Check Prices Now)

Then you need a heat gun. I picked mine up at Lowes on one of my many trips, but if you get your Kydex from Amazon, you might as well order it and have it delivered — Check Prices Now

You may also want a small board. I had a scrap piece of 1×2 that I used to help shape the kydex once it was heated. You don’t want to burn yourself!

So here is what I did.

  1. Measure the width of your seatbelt
  2. Measure the length of your seatbelt (the keydex I ordered was 12 inches long so that is what I used)
  3. Mark your folds on your kydex so you know where to heat and leave enough room for the width f your seat belt.
  4. Heat the kydex with the heat gun. Don’t leave the heat in one spot long. Move back and forth until it is plyable. Then, use the 1×2 board to start bending/folding the kydex into shape.
  5. Heat and fold the other sides of kydex to make your sleeve.
  6. Let cool and install.
  7. If you do not like how it turned out, reheat and adjust. I had to do this once or twice to get it just how I wanted it.

Let’s take a look at some of the photos:
